Su trabajo ha sido publicado en la revista Chemical Communications.<\/p>\n<p>El \u00e9xtasis es una de las drogas m\u00e1s consumidas en la actualidad. Se trata de un psicoestimulante que puede provocar, entre otros efectos, problemas de memoria, paranoia, insomnio, hipertensi\u00f3n e, incluso, fallos cardiacos. Hasta ahora, esta droga se detecta y cuantifica mediante t\u00e9cnicas como la electroforesis capilar, espectroscop\u00eda o cromatograf\u00eda.<\/p>\n<p>El \u00e9xtasis puede provocar, entre otros efectos, problemas de memoria, paranoia, insomnio, hipertensi\u00f3n e, incluso, fallos cardiacos<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSe trata de m\u00e9todos totalmente v\u00e1lidos, pero que requieren del uso de un equipamiento t\u00e9cnico caro y de personal cualificado. Nuestro sistema destaca por su facilidad de uso, bajo coste y alta fiabilidad\u201d, explica Beatriz Lozano, experto del Instituto Interuniversitario de Investigaci\u00f3n de Reconocimiento Molecular y Desarrollo Tecnol\u00f3gico en la UPV.<\/p>\n<p>Una puerta molecular<\/p>\n<p>El m\u00e9todo dise\u00f1ado por los investigadores espa\u00f1oles, daneses y austr\u00edacos consiste en un material h\u00edbrido que incluye un soporte inorg\u00e1nico cargado con un colorante \u2013en este caso fluoresce\u00edna\u2013 y funcionalizado con una mol\u00e9cula org\u00e1nica derivada del naftol.<\/p>\n<p>El colorante queda retenido cuando el bluebox \u2013mol\u00e9cula ampliamente utilizada en qu\u00edmica\u2013 se coordina al naftol formando una puerta molecular y ante la presencia de \u00e9xtasis en la muestra analizada, se produce una variaci\u00f3n de la fluorescencia, cuya intensidad var\u00eda en funci\u00f3n de la concentraci\u00f3n de droga detectada.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnteriormente ya hab\u00eda sido descrita la afinidad del BlueBox por diferentes neurotransmisores como la dopamina, y debido al parecido estructural entre dicho neurotransmisor y el \u00e9xtasis, pensamos que ser\u00eda buena idea intentar que la \u201cpuerta molecular\u201d pudiera abrirse en presencia de la droga y liberar as\u00ed el colorante que da la respuesta fluorog\u00e9nica\u201d, a\u00f1ade Lozano, que desarrolla su investigaci\u00f3n, asimismo, dentro de uno de los grupos del CIBER-BBN.<\/p>\n<p>Seg\u00fan las pruebas desarrolladas en laboratorio, este nuevo sistema destaca, entre otras caracter\u00edsticas, por su alta sensibilidad, hasta 0\u201995 microgramos\/mililitro.
